God-Story #1

My God direction started almost 50 years ago. I was born and raised in a wonderful Christian family in Cornwall, NY. My parents were Methodist and mom kept in contact with the wife of the minister who was there when I was born. At the age of 20 a brand new RN I was ready to conquer the world or so I thought. Having friends 700 miles away in Toledo, OH I was invited to rent an apartment in their home. Now I don’t know how I ever did this but it sounded good so I moved. I got a job at Mercy Hospital. Everything was great (aside from the terrible case of homesickness that I had) until I was put on 3-11 shift then I was no longer available to be a live in babysitter. The family said they were moving to another city. Now what was I to do? I prayed.

Mom suggested to contact her friend the pastors wife who now happened to live in Toledo, OH. Talk about a Godincidence!! I called and was invited to a family gathering which I went to. There I met her daughter who instantly became my friend. Joanna invited me to attend her church one time. I had tried several by this time and never felt like home. So I went to church with Joanna and my one time has turned into close to 50 years. Joanna also knew of an elderly lady who needed someone to live in her upstairs apartment.
God has directed my life for all these years. I had an apartment by myself but did not handle living alone. At that time the pastors of our church, Don and Jane Guy, came up to me and asked me if I would like to move in with them. At first I said no then one night I was so unbearably lonely I prayed that if that was what God wanted for me then have them ask me again. Needless to say that very night Jane came and asked if I had reconsidered I said Yes. We had a beautiful life together. Pastor Don passed away and Jane became the pastor God knew she would need someone there to help her. We were together for close to 20years when she remarried. Although they asked me to stay I felt that was no place for me besides God had given me another Christian friend who could use help in sharing expenses. That’s when I moved in with Katie. Over 20 years later God took Katie home to be with Him. Although I miss her and my wonderful parents I know I will see them again.
That’s my story that’s my life I believe led by God.

Proverbs 3:5 & 6 – Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.

God-story #2

A few short years ago (like 6) we were unemployed for 6 months and living in a new neighborhood. Food supplies were running LOW!! Our neighbors needed their fruit trees pruned. Needless to say we volunteered to prune the trees.(we volunteered with no pay spoken of or expected on our part) We got free egg whites from another lady down the street(who makes noodles) my husband did a few hours of work for and got paid. With only a few dollars in our pockets we left the house to go get some gas in the car and we kept feeling nudged to buy a bag of flour and make angel food cake with the flour and eggs whites. As I was getting ready to make the 2 cakes I discovered I needed powdered sugar, knowing we didn’t have any, but I KNEW If I opened the one certain cupboard door where it was supposed to be there wasn’t going to be any. Much to my surprise I could NOT stop myself from opening that door anyhow, yup you guessed it there was a new bag of powdered sugar there that we had NOT bought ( hence miracle #1).

As I was mixing the cake God spoke to me and told me to plant a seed, I said ok, he said “give a cake to your neighbor”. The neighbor I was supposed to give it to was the one we pruned the trees for. The cake cools and my husband and I walked over together to deliver it. They came to the door shocked and surprised , it was their favorite cake!!! Hmmm imagine that, I would venture to say God was NOT surprised. The woman says to us, hey by the way we found several $100 dollars in our van from xyz and decided we would like to use half of it to buy your family food, is there anything you need?? We stood there completely overcome and I bravely told her that anything would be a blessing and that whatever they felt God lay on their hearts was good enough for us. Now mind you food was so low we knew there was only a few meals left, but I chose to shut my mouth and not speak out in fear but stick to the faith I felt God calling me to at the time. The next day they sent there special needs son over with the lawnmower trailer with the food, not only was there a load but there were TWO loads of food!!! But the time they had got there with the food we had enough food for ONE more meal then we didn’t know what we would do. The fridge, and freezer were full and our pantry was well stocked by the time we got done putting all the goodies away!!!!!

Now here comes the neat part, a few weeks prior our children were saying that they are so hungry for bacon and other numerous things, we told them to make a list and we will make it known to God and pray over it. Well you guessed it, yes ALL their requests were in this delivery and YES they were thrilled and overjoyed!! They kept on saying ‘EVERYTHING I ASKED FOR CAME”!!!! That food lasted us until we had an income coming in again! Only God is all I can say……….

Philippians 4:19 – And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.

We will not be having anything else for our challenge this week. Put on some of your favorite worship at the Cross music and give God glory for all He has done in your life.
